When the eyes are tired, looking at the greenery outside the window can relieve eye fatigue, and eye fatigue in turn affects the liver. The liver likes the color green, so to protect the liver one should eat green vegetables; green corresponds to the liver. Colors are also composed of the four great element particles; when the four great element particles differ, the wavelengths differ, and thus the colors differ. The liver is also composed of the four great element particles, and the four great element particles of green have a mutually attractive and mutually complementary effect with the four great elements of the liver. Therefore, eating green foods can protect the liver, and looking at green plants can protect the liver. All of these are the marvelous functions and effects of the tathāgatagarbha. The affairs of the dharmadhātu are arranged in perfect order—who arranged them? Or is it simply so from the beginning, naturally and inherently so (dharmatā)?
