All Dharmas Are Born from the Tathāgatagarbha in Dependence on the Seventh Consciousness

Only the tathāgatagarbha can give rise to all dharmas, because the tathāgatagarbha holds the seeds of all dharmas, and seeds possess the aspect of generative capacity. The seventh consciousness is a condition for the arising of the six consciousnesses; all dharmas are produced by the tathāgatagarbha in dependence upon the seventh consciousness. Without the seventh consciousness, the tathāgatagarbha by itself cannot give rise to any dharma. For the tathāgatagarbha to produce the first six consciousnesses, it must do so through the seventh consciousness. The seventh consciousness has existed since beginningless kalpas and only ceases at Nirvāṇa without remainder.
