The Conforming Path and the Contrary Path

One who is like the True Mind is liberated and at ease. Therefore, to follow the True Mind is to follow the Way, while to oppose the True Mind is to oppose the Way, to oppose Heaven, inevitably bringing suffering and affliction. Cultivation that aligns with the True Mind takes, at most, three immeasurable kalpas, whereas actions opposing the True Mind give rise to the weariness and agony of birth and death for immeasurable kalpas upon immeasurable kalpas. Hence, following the True Mind is not easy; initially, it may involve some suffering, but after a short period, it brings ease, freedom, joy, and liberation. Opposing the True Mind is even more difficult, for the physical and mental pains it entails are endless, piercing to the core, with rivers of blood flowing.
