The Mental Factor of Equanimity (Upekṣā) among the Eleven Wholesome Mental Factors

Among the eleven wholesome mental factors, equanimity (upekṣā) refers to this: originally one intended to take revenge on someone by some means or method, but now one gives up and no longer seeks revenge, thereby according with the unconditioned, according with the wholesome mind, abandoning evil and practicing good. Seeking revenge is an unwholesome mental factor, a conditioned evil action.

The accomplishment of the precepts can also cause the mind to accord with wholesome dharmas, to accord with equanimity, to accord with non-harming, and to accord with non-greed, non-hatred, and non-delusion.
