Lashing the Manas

Sleepiness deepens after a busy day,

Suddenly awakened by an itch mid-slumber.

Scratching skin and flesh, the heart grows restless;

Lying down again, sleep finds no peace by the pillow.

Since beginningless kalpas, attachment to this body runs deep—

Even mosquito bites stir undue distress.

Often troubled by the torment of sensory experiences,

Release body and mind to observe the self-nature.
