When there is much talk and many deluded thoughts, one will cut off the wealth of meritorious dharmas. By cultivating the qi down to the lower dantian, one becomes unwilling to think about things; deluded thoughts diminish, speech also lessens, one becomes more focused, and one's memory improves. When the qi reaches the lower dantian, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, it remains at the lower dantian—there is no need to deliberately regulate the breath or guide it with intention; even while sleeping, it stays at the lower dantian. When the qi is at the lower dantian, the mind is very steady and unruffled by waves, thoughts are deep and profound, one considers problems with greater thoroughness, and afflictions are few.
