The Discriminative Nature of Suchness

True suchness (tathatā) is free from discrimination; it has no discriminating mind and does not discriminate among the six sense objects and the myriad dharmas, yet it can cooperate with the seven consciousnesses in their discrimination. Its discriminations are never concerned with the six sense objects. It can discern the karmic seeds of sentient beings and, in accordance with those karmic seeds, creates sentient beings: the karma of being human produces a human body, and the karma of being an animal produces an animal body, never in any confusion. In accordance with the karma of sentient beings, it brings about the karmic retribution of sentient beings with not the slightest discrepancy, and according to sentient beings' karma it creates their living environment. It can discern the mental activities of the seven consciousnesses; whatever the seven consciousnesses are going to do, He knows it, and so He transmits the consciousness seeds, enabling the seven consciousnesses to operate. These discriminations are numerous and subtle, and cannot all be described one by one. After you have realized Him, you will be able to use language to express Him, describe Him, and point Him out, and you will also be able to tell others how to realize Him.
