The Sole Predominant Consciousness Among the Five Aggregates Is Manas

The Equality Wisdom of the mental faculty perceives all sentient beings as equal and non-differentiated from oneself, without distinction between self and others. It contemplates the Buddha-nature of Suchness as identical, giving rise to no discriminatory thoughts, and regards all phenomena as one without generating differentiating thoughts. However, the mental faculty remains the sovereign consciousness at all times—this cannot be altered. Just as a nation cannot function without a leader, and two leaders both asserting sovereignty would plunge the realm into chaos, so too would the Five Aggregates with two sovereign consciousnesses bring about great disorder!
