Hypnosis occurs when the other party is in a favorable state. Through deep guidance, deeply ingrained habits buried within the manas (the seventh consciousness) are unearthed. If the other party is obedient and follows the guidance, the habits of the manas can be altered. All phenomena demonstrate that the manas controls all dharmas, with the eighth consciousness cooperating behind it, transforming and sustaining all dharmas. By controlling the brain, the manas controls the entire physical body and mobilizes it, with the eighth consciousness serving as its executor. The six consciousnesses are merely tools utilized by the manas.
When the consciousness is less manifested, temporarily forgetting the physical body, not reminding the manas, and preventing the manas from knowing the existence and obstruction of the physical body, the manas can cause the physical body to perform extraordinary actions, similar to spiritual powers. The manas can utilize the eighth consciousness to unleash its potential for mobilizing the physical body and manipulating all dharmas, outputting energy to manipulate everything and transform everything, including causing the eighth consciousness to manifest Buddha-lands and countless physical bodies. The spiritual powers of non-Buddhist practitioners are also the results of utilizing the functions of the manas.
