Meditation Practice Questions and Answers

Question: In recent days during the later stages of meditation, my Dazhui point and neck have been feeling swollen and stiff. Should I use a small hammer to tap them?

Answer: You may gently tap the area with a soft stick or massage and pat the acupoints with your hands, including the back of the head and the top of the head. These areas should be cleared. Once the meridian pathways are unblocked, the neck will no longer feel swollen or stiff. The back of the neck is a crucial area, connecting the body and the brain, serving as the sole channel for the supply of qi and blood to the brain. Only when this area is unblocked can the mind function properly. You may pat the head and the Baihui point with your hands, using a hollow fist, or tap them with a soft stick or silicone patting board. This will promote the smooth flow of qi and blood, ensure ample nourishment, refresh the mind, and thus sharpen thinking.
