Yogācārabhūmi Śāstra, Volume 34 (62)

Original text:

Explanation: A yogi who diligently cultivates yoga in this way observes that the continuous stream of his own mind flows and changes without cease: a new dharma arises in the mind, and the next moment another new dharma arises, constantly changing; his mind sometimes increases and sometimes decreases, all existing only temporarily, manifesting in an instant and then changing afterward—such a mind that changes from before to after is of the nature of impermanence. He further observes that the continuous stream of his own mind has grasping and clinging, and is subsumed by the aggregates to be grasped (upādāna-skandha); this is the nature of suffering. He further observes that the continuous stream of his own mind, while unceasing, does not belong to any single dharma, because the mind is empty—this is the nature of emptiness. He further observes that the continuous stream of his own mind arises from the conjunction of many causes and conditions, and lacks self-mastery; therefore it is of the nature of no-self. This is called entering into the realization of the truth of suffering: impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and no-self are named the truth of suffering.
