Original Text: Thus, for one who diligently cultivates in this way, at all times one should correctly observe whether all afflictions have been severed or not yet severed. At all times, one should profoundly repel that which is repulsive. At all times, one should profoundly rejoice in and admire that which is admirable. This is called withdrawal-joy attention. By closely cultivating this withdrawal-joy attention, and through repeated cultivation, one becomes capable of completely and permanently severing all afflictions to be abandoned by the path of cultivation. The final stage of learning arises, likened to diamond-like samadhi. Due to the arising of this stage, one can permanently sever all afflictions to be abandoned by the path of cultivation.
Explanation: As for such cultivation, a practitioner who diligently cultivates should, at all times, correctly observe whether all afflictions have been severed or remain unsevered; at all times, deeply repel the repulsive dharmas with profound aversion; at all times, deeply rejoice in and admire the admirable dharmas with profound joy. This is called withdrawal-joy attention. By closely cultivating this withdrawal-joy attention, and through repeated cultivation, one becomes capable of completely and permanently severing the afflictions to be abandoned by the path of cultivation. The final stage of learning then arises, which is likened to diamond-like samadhi. Due to the arising of this final stage, one can permanently sever all afflictions to be abandoned by the path of cultivation.
