What Is Meant by "Deliberate"?

Deliberate effort is when the mind consciousness suppresses the manas, subdues the manas, regulates the manas, perfumes the manas, motivates the manas, guides the manas, and admonishes the manas—at this time the manas has not yet been perfumed and has not developed good habits. Once the manas has been successfully perfumed and has developed good habits, the old ox, having become obedient, will change its stubborn temper, and the mind consciousness will no longer need to manage the manas, suppress the manas, or subdue the manas; there will be no need to deliberately do anything anymore—one can accord with the good habits of the manas and will not transgress the rules.
