The Qi Meridian Circulation of the Small Heavenly Cycle through the Conception and Governing Vessels

Lan Tian's account of the movement of qi channels during breath-observation meditation: In recent days while sitting in meditation observing the breath, the breath energy has been strongly striking the perineum, and the heat at the perineum, the Weilü point (coccyx), the lower back, and the pelvis has noticeably intensified. Around February of last year, when the channels were passing through the supreme faculty (indriya) at the back of the brain, my left ear had already been ringing with tinnitus for more than five months; after the qi channels finished clearing through the brain, the tinnitus in my left ear was cured. Around May of last year, during meditation, because the tip of my tongue was not fully pressed against the upper palate and front teeth, when the qi channels passed between the upper right teeth and the lower right teeth, my entire upper gum became inflamed, damaging three upper teeth.

This is a phenomenon that occurs when the qi channels enter the Du channel (Governing Vessel). As the qi channels circulate through the Du channel along the back, they also have a regulating effect on the five zang organs and six fu organs in the front and on the whole body. When the qi channels enter the back from the Weilü point and push up to the back of the neck, there will be a certain degree of obstruction. After breaking through this point and entering the supreme faculty (indriya) at the back of the brain, although the obstruction here may be greater, the faculties of the eyes, ears, nose, and tongue will be effectively regulated, one will become sharp of ear and clear of eye, and ailments of the eyes, ears, nose, and tongue will be eliminated. Once the qi channels reach the back of the brain, one must sit in meditation more intensively so that the qi channels become more abundant and can quickly pass through the Baihui point at the crown of the head; in this way the therapeutic effect will also be better. When the qi channels reach the back of the brain, one can contemplate the karmic-obstruction qi exiting from the Baihui point at the crown of the head; this also helps eliminate illness and allows the qi channels to pass through the back of the brain as quickly as possible and reach the junction of the Ren channel (Conception Vessel) and the Du channel, so as to open up both the Ren and Du channels.

The inflammation of the gums occurred because the qi channels were strongly blocked at the gums, and the heat scorched the gums, causing inflammation. If the Ren channel at the tip of the tongue and the Du channel at the gums are properly connected, the qi channels can smoothly pass through the gums into the tongue and thereby enter the Ren channel, completing one cycle of the Small Heavenly Circuit, and then such a thing would not happen. Among the three channels, the qi channels first clear the Ren channel, then the Du channel; after the circulation of the Ren and Du channels is opened, they then enter the Central Channel. The Central Channel is the hardest to open, but once it is opened, all illnesses disappear.
