The power of logical thinking can give rise to the power of wisdom

What is wisdom? Wisdom is the ability to discover problems, recognize problems, and solve problems. Having the capacity for rigorous logical thinking allows one to solve problems completely, without loopholes—this is wisdom. What is logic? Logic is the method of thinking, the sequence of thinking, the angle of thinking, the depth of thinking, and the levels of thinking. Through such thinking, one can find the point of entry and the focus of a problem, penetrating step by step, thereby grasping the root of the problem and reaching straight to its core, solving the problem comprehensively and thoroughly, with nothing left out—this is the power of wisdom.

Applying logical thinking well can give rise to inexhaustible wisdom and solve inexhaustible problems. If you have not mastered logical thinking, you should carefully observe every short essay I write, or my remarks in the group, paying attention to my way, method, and angle of thinking on each question, and noting how I expound a problem layer by layer, revealing its essence, as well as the logical relationships between sentences and paragraphs.

Clarifying the sequence for solving problems is like unwinding silk from a cocoon; wisdom will then grow very rapidly—this is what it means to be logical. For example, take the question of deliverance and liberation from suffering that we discussed together some days ago: observe my sequence of thinking and the entire process of solving the problem, and you will see that my line of thought is very clear and methodical, ultimately arriving at a reasonable conclusion. In fact, while expounding the problem, I did not yet know what the final conclusion would be; I simply unfolded the problem step by step in an orderly fashion, and if the process is without error, the conclusion at the end will be correct. Getting the initial point of entry, the focus, and the sequence right from the start is crucial, for this enables one to reach straight to the root of the problem and grasp its fundamental issue. This is the power of logical thinking. With this capacity, wisdom arises; by thinking about problems in this way, any problem can be solved in accordance with the Dharma and with reason.
