The five aggregates, the eighteen realms, and the twelve entrances arise from the convergence of various conditions, and vanish when those conditions disperse. How is this principle to be realized and internalized? The mind consciousness can think it over and grasp a rough idea, yet you yourself also know that this is not genuine understanding; one still needs a deep and definite clarity of its meaning, grounded in reason and evidence. This requires that, within meditative concentration (samādhi), you suspend this principle in your mind, letting the manas deliberate single-pointedly, deliberating closely and continuously at every moment. The manas's deliberation is hidden, continuous, and unattached to sense objects; it has a certain height and depth—this is called viewing from a lofty vantage point.
