Sentient Beings Sink into the Cycle of Birth and Death Due to the Delusions of Manas

Due to which deluded thought do sentient beings sink into the cycle of birth and death? It is due to the deluded thoughts of the manas that they sink into the cycle of birth and death. Who is the accomplice in sinking into birth and death? The manas employs the six consciousnesses as its instruments, and the six consciousnesses, in turn, fuel the deluded thoughts and ignorance of the manas, thus making escape from the cycle of birth and death seem hopeless. There must be one who awakens first. Who can awaken first? Consciousness lacks innate attachments; its ignorance is not so deeply ingrained. It possesses strong analytical and reasoning abilities, is agile and flexible in thought, and easily accepts new things. Gambling, for instance, is a new phenomenon. Consciousness first accepts it, then influences the manas. Once the manas becomes accustomed to gambling, it becomes very difficult to quit. This is the case with all unwholesome worldly matters.
