When sentient beings have not yet opened the eye of wisdom, they often mistake the wrong for the right and the right for the wrong, becoming confused and disordered. Some may only recognize famous teachers, unaware that there is a significant difference between famous teachers and enlightened teachers. Those with the Way may not be renowned, and those renowned may not possess the Way. Only by distinguishing between famous teachers and enlightened teachers can one truly rely on the Dharma, not on individuals. Spreading the correct Dharma generates immense merit, but if one transmits it erroneously, planting wrong seeds in the minds of sentient beings, these seeds will sprout bad shoots and bear rotten fruit life after life. Even when genuine spiritual guides come, it becomes extremely difficult to correct such errors, as sentient beings tend to adhere to their first impressions. Moreover, the true Dharma is difficult to resonate with ordinary beings, differing from the habitual understanding and reasoning commonly held by sentient beings. Consequently, they may reject it, and their mindset becomes hard to change. Therefore, propagating the Dharma must be approached with utmost caution.
