If the practice is pursued too hastily, and the conscious mind excessively opposes the mind faculty to a severe degree, the mind faculty will become deeply unsettled and uncomfortable. At times, it may become irritable, feeling profoundly depressed. In such cases, the conscious mind must slow its pace, avoiding forcing the mind faculty against its will. Instead, select a Dharma method that interests the mind faculty and immerse yourself in it, thereby transforming the habitual tendencies of the mind faculty. Only then can you return to the correct path of cultivating meditative concentration.
