How to Contemplate the Five Aggregates as Non-Self in Daily Life

Every day, one must engage in contemplative practice (vipaśyanā-caryā) on the dharma of eating—how it arises, ceases, changes, and is impermanent; how it is suffering; how it is empty; and how it is without self-nature and without any master. Every day, one must engage in contemplative practice on the dharma of dressing—how it arises, ceases, changes, and is impermanent; how it is suffering; how it is empty; and how it is without self-nature and without any master.

Contemplate how the feelings experienced in dressing and eating arise, cease, change, and are impermanent; how they are suffering; how they are empty; and how they are without self and without any master. Contemplate how the perceptive knowing of the aggregate of perception in dressing and eating arises, ceases, changes, and is impermanent; how it is suffering and empty; and how it is without self and without any master. Contemplate how the bodily actions and mental actions of consciousness in dressing and eating arise, cease, change, and are impermanent; how they are suffering and empty; and how they are without self and without any master. Contemplate how the nature of consciousness in dressing and eating arises, ceases, changes, and is impermanent; how it is suffering and empty; and how it is without self and without any master.
