All material form (rūpa), regardless of whether the conscious mind observes it, exists in the same state; it is not the case that it exists in one state when the conscious mind observes it and in another state when the conscious mind does not observe it. Without the conscious mind observing, who could know what state material form is in? One can only speculate, and whatever dharma is arrived at through speculation is unreliable and untrustworthy. Therefore, not all science possesses scientific validity.
For example, Zhang San's appearance, regardless of whether others' conscious minds observe it, will not differ greatly on the whole. As for one's own house, whether or not one is at home, whether or not one observes it, the house always remains as it is, without any difference or change. This includes all the material form one can come into contact with: whether or not one observes it, its object-aspect (nimitta) remains more or less the same, without any difference or alteration.
