Sequential condition (samanantara-pratyaya) refers to the continuous arising and ceasing of seeds of the same kind, equal and without interruption. For example, with the seeds of consciousness of the mind consciousness: as soon as one arises and ceases at a certain location, the next one immediately follows, also arising and ceasing at that same location. In this way, the seeds of consciousness arise and cease one after another in sequence, and only then can the mind consciousness carry out its activities of recognition and discernment continuously without interruption.
