In today's world, which is excessively chaotic, even if Buddhists wish to diligently practice, constraints arising from their own minds and the environment prevent them from advancing adequately. Many feel they have the will but lack the strength. If one seeks breakthroughs and accomplishments in the Dharma, having already attained considerable depth and refinement in theoretical understanding, when the time comes for experiential realization, one should withdraw from worldly affairs for a period. Depart from the familiar environment that binds body and mind, seek out a secluded place free from disturbances, and engage in meditation and Chan practice to elevate the skill of cultivation and realization. If one aspires to attain the fruit of enlightenment, it is even more essential to have a separate, pure place for solitary investigation and practice. Otherwise, there will be no way to elevate oneself and ultimately attain the fruit.
