Differences Between Internal and External Material Forms of the Subtle Indriyas

When scientists observe matter with billion-fold microscopes and magnifying glasses, are they observing the material form within the supramundane faculty or the material form outside the supramundane faculty? If what scientists observe is the inner dust within the supramundane faculty, then how many transformations and manifestations has this inner dust undergone to become the wave-state of extremely fine particles perceived by visual consciousness and mental consciousness?

Once visual consciousness and mental consciousness become aware, it is always the inner dust that is known; the outer dust can never be perceived. Instruments themselves lack the faculty of awareness. This is the essence of how consciousness influences observation. Scientists observe the inner dust, while the state of the outer dust remains unknown and cannot possibly be identical. This is because the four elemental particles undergo transmission through the microscope, the physical eye, various neural pathways, and finally reach the supramundane faculty. At each stage of this process, certain obstructions occur, causing the four elemental particles to undergo subtle alterations. How much they ultimately change upon reaching the supramundane faculty remains unclear to us.

The more intermediate processes involved, the greater the alteration. There is certainly a difference between seeing form directly through the eye faculty without any lens and seeing it through ten layers of glass. Those interested may test this themselves. As the essential state of the outer dust passes through each layer of glass lens, the four elemental particles inevitably change. The glass lenses block or filter out some coarser particles, allowing only the subtlest particles to pass through each layer of lens, the vitreous body of the eye, and the neural pathways. During this process, colors change, material forms transform, and clarity diminishes. If the lenses are not colorless but tinted, even more particles may be blocked or filtered out as the four elemental particles pass through. Even with different types of colorless lenses, the obstructions encountered by the four elemental particles vary, resulting in distinct images formed by the particles that ultimately reach the supramundane faculty.

After all this research, does the mental faculty perceive material form as illusory? Mental consciousness investigates, but the mental faculty absolutely does not synchronize. Mental consciousness may verify, but the mental faculty cannot simultaneously verify. It requires cultivating meditative concentration and insight for the mental faculty to grant recognition and authentication.
