Mara Papiyas most fervently wishes sentient beings to abstain from meditation practice, for once an individual attains the complete state of access concentration, equaling his own meditative absorption, Mara loses the capacity to control that person. Furthermore, once someone achieves the first dhyana, they transcend Mara's dominion entirely, and he can exert no influence over them. Therefore, one must be cautious if anyone obstructs our meditation practice or denies its efficacy. In this world, the five sensory desires and afflictions burn fiercely; without meditative concentration, there is no means to subdue these afflictions, and the karmic retribution in future lives is truly dreadful.
