When the Buddha comes, the demons retreat

The more diligent you are, the greater the demons you encounter. The greater the demon, the greater your wisdom after it is subdued. Great demons lurk only in the most subtle places, while small demons are right before your eyes. Turn the light inward and contemplate: all Buddhas stand manifest before you. When the Buddha comes, the demon retreats. Riding the sturdy Dharma ship, ferry all dharmas to the other shore.

"All Buddhas stand manifest before you"—how wonderful these words are! Only those who have awakened to the true mind and realized enlightenment can truly understand this principle, and can thus see the Buddha at all times, without seeing anything else.
