Original: Formerly, one had not properly contemplated; now, with deliberate attention, one skillfully contemplates. With subtle wisdom, one can correctly and truly penetrate the Four Noble Truths. Through drawing near to, cultivating, and repeatedly cultivating this subtle wisdom of contemplation, the subject of cognition and the object cognized become equal and balanced, and right knowledge arises. Through the arising of this knowledge, all heavy, manifested self-conceit obstructing the delight in Nirvana is severed.
Explanation: Previously, one had not properly contemplated the Four Noble Truths; now one must deliberately attend and skillfully observe with expedient means. With subtle wisdom, one can correctly and truly penetrate the principle of the Four Noble Truths. Because one is able to draw near to, cultivate, and repeatedly cultivate this subtle wisdom of contemplation, the knowing subject and the known object become equal and balanced, and only then does right knowledge arise. Through the arising of right knowledge, all heavy, manifested self-conceit obstructing the delight in Nirvana is severed.
