It should be known that within this context, the mental application pertaining to the vajra-like samādhi is called the ultimate application of endeavor. The mental application pertaining to the supreme fruit of Arhatship is called the resultant ultimate application of endeavor. By means of such various mental applications, one attains the ultimate realization through the supramundane path. All such is known as the Śrāvaka Stage. This is what has been taught by all the Perfectly Enlightened Ones; it is the fundamental teaching corresponding to all Śrāvakas. Just as all names, phrases, and syllables are the basis for composing treatises, mantras, and heterodox doctrines.

Explanation: It should be understood that within the path of cultivation, the mental application encompassed by the vajra-like samādhi is named the ultimate application of endeavor. The mental application encompassed by the supreme fruit of Arhatship is named the resultant ultimate application of endeavor. Through such various mental applications, one can only attain the ultimate realization by relying on the supramundane path. All such varieties are termed the Śrāvaka Stage. This is what all the Perfectly Enlightened Buddhas have taught; it is the fundamental doctrine corresponding to all Śrāvakas, just as all name-compounds, sentence-compounds, and syllable-compounds are the basis for composing treatises, mantras, and heterodox doctrines.
