Why does the manas never criticize the mind consciousness?

The mind consciousness can criticize the manas, but the manas does not criticize the mind consciousness. First, because the manas is the master consciousness that holds the power of decision; it can completely ignore the decisions and attitudes of the mind consciousness, and can completely reverse them. Second, the manas lacks the function of language and words, so it is impossible for it to criticize, negate, or persuade the mind consciousness, nor will it debate with the mind consciousness. If the manas is dissatisfied with the views and opinions of the mind consciousness, or if the mind consciousness does not understand the views and opinions of the manas, and the mind consciousness does not submit to the will of the manas, one may feel uncomfortable inside, or become frantic, or become depressed. The manas merely needs the understanding, support, and cooperation of the mind consciousness; in that way it will be somewhat more resolute, and the mind will also be somewhat stronger.
