The mind consciousness has a strong capacity for thinking, analysis, and discernment, and can discern the realms of mental sense-objects (dharma-viṣaya) in a relatively deep and subtle manner, making it easy for wisdom to arise. The wisdom of the mind consciousness emerges through contact with the environment, in-depth learning, and meticulous thinking. With this wisdom, one can lead the manas out of the mire and toward the bright great path, arriving at the home of ultimate bliss. Without the guidance of the mind consciousness, the manas would remain stuck in the mire for a long time, unable to extricate itself, and the five-aggregate body would remain forever in the cycle of birth and death (saṃsāra). Therefore, the mind consciousness is extremely important.
