What Is the Realization of the Manas?

Question: After hearing the Buddha's Dharma and understanding its principles, when the mind consciousness has deeply and firmly ascertained that the five aggregates are not the self, this has also been infused into the manas. Why is it that the manas still cannot confirm and realize it? Instead, it was only during the subsequent one or two months of cultivating the Pure Land practice of recollecting the Buddha (buddhānusmṛti) that the manas realized it?

Answer: The manas must give rise to its own deliberation (manana) based on the mind consciousness's thinking. When the manas's deliberation yields no result, or when there is no correct conclusion at the time, it is not realization.
