Dharma Teachings

The Order of Dharma Talks

When delivering the Dharma, one must not only address the capacities of sentient beings but also transcend their current level to guide and elevate their capacities. Since the capacities of sentient beings vary immensely, one should not teach only shallow Dharma; profound and even more profound teachings should also be expounded. These teachings are not necessarily delivered solely for the beings present now but also for future generations and those of superior spiritual aptitude. Those with insufficient aptitude may hear them and let them pass, or harbor doubts if they do not understand, but they should refrain from hastily drawing conclusions.

In my Dharma teaching, I first lay the groundwork, accommodating sentient beings of all capacities—high, medium, and low—and considering both the present and future generations. More importantly, I prioritize the overall development of Buddhism. Therefore, it is impossible to fully address the specific circumstances of every sentient being, and naturally, some—or even many—may not resonate with the teachings. I am fully aware of these situations. All matters are arranged according to my own discernment, and the Buddha oversees from behind. Shakyamuni Buddha has a comprehensive and holistic arrangement for the Dharma in the Saha World, which we do not know. We need only abide calmly, temporarily absorbing the teachings that resonate with us while setting aside the profound Dharma for now.

When the World-Honored One first attained enlightenment in the Saha World, he expounded the Avatamsaka Sutra for sentient beings with great Bodhisattva resolve. Innumerable heavenly beings, human disciples—especially the Śrāvaka disciples—were as if deaf and mute. The World-Honored One knew this, yet he still taught the Avatamsaka Sutra to lay the complete foundation for the Dharma in the Saha World and to clarify the path to Buddhahood. Only then did the disciples understand the entire sequence of Buddhist practice, enabling them to proceed with clarity and confidence.

After teaching the Avatamsaka Sutra, the World-Honored One began instructing his disciples in the most fundamental Dharma, guiding the assembly to practice according to the Four Agamas, starting from severing the view of self and attaining the first fruition [of Stream-Entry].

My propagation of the Dharma follows the same principle. I must lay the complete foundation for the Dharma that sentient beings need to practice, clearly explain the crucial points of cultivation, and afterward, guide everyone to begin practicing from the basics, from the fundamental Dharma. The online Dharma propagation conducted before this was not true propagation but merely a preparatory and preliminary phase. The actual guidance of practitioners in cultivation has not yet begun.
