The more diligent one's practice, the greater the demonic obstructions encountered. The greater the demonic obstructions subdued, the greater the wisdom attained. The greatest demons dwell only in the most subtle places, while lesser demons appear right before one's eyes. Turn the mind inward in contemplation, and all Buddhas stand manifest before us. When the Buddha arrives, the demons retreat. Aboard the steadfast Dharma boat, one ferries across all phenomena to reach the other shore.
"All Buddhas stand manifest before us" — how profound this statement! Only those who have realized the enlightened mind can truly understand this principle, only then can they constantly perceive the Buddha and see nothing else.
Why is it that when the Buddha arrives, the demons retreat?
All phenomena are without inherent existence; I can subdue them all with a single strike. The Buddha comes, the demons retreat. Is there anyone still unconvinced?
