All dharmas are the emptiness of Tathagatagarbha; in essence, they are the nature of Tathagatagarbha, and no dharmas truly exist. However, the illusory phenomena of all dharmas still appear, can be perceived, and possess illusory functions. For example, the five aggregates constituting the physical body are illusory, empty, and unreal, yet the illusory functions of the physical body still exist, enabling beings to perceive one another. Time and space are likewise—illusory, empty, and unreal—yet they possess their illusory functions and can be perceived. Therefore, due to the relationship of time, material dharmas exhibit different sequences of before and after, and material dharmas can also exist and be contained within space.
