Dharmakāya and Prajñā

The lush yellow flowers are nothing but prajñā; the verdant green bamboo is all Dharmakāya. Every day, when one gazes upon the lush yellow flowers, the wondrous principle of prajñā manifests in the mind; when one sees the verdant green bamboo, the Dharmakāya leaps forth into view. It is all the wondrous function of prajñā, the Dharmakāya pervading everywhere. Sentient beings have never departed from the Dharmakāya for even a moment; in every instant, prajñā is fully revealed. It is only that ignorance obscures the mind's eye, so that prajñā is not seen and the Dharmakāya is not known. Apart from the Dharmakāya, there is no body of karmic obstruction; apart from prajñā, the yellow flowers and green bamboo are not seen.

A student asked Chan Master Yunmen: What is the Buddha? Yunmen pointed directly: A dry dung stick.

The Dharmakāya is not a dry dung stick; a dry dung stick is not prajñā; a dry dung stick is not a dry dung stick. The sage king mingles among the mundane dust; one must brush aside the dark clouds to behold the sun of wisdom. If one sees only the dry dung and does not see the Dharmakāya, if one clings to the dry dung and does not understand prajñā—
